We are delighted to share that The National Lottery Heritage Fund will be supporting the next stage of Britannia’s journey through our project, Britannia: Making Waves, made possible thanks to National Lottery players!
This funding comes at a pivotal moment for our project. It will enable us to take Britannia through the final phase of her restoration and on to sea trials in 2028, ensuring her long term future as a traditional working sailing vessel.
It will also allow us to grow our impact. Over the next three years, we will be able to:
- Support additional boatbuilding volunteers and trainees, helping to pass on endangered traditional skills
- Expand our programme of community events, workshops and open daysWork with a broader range of partners and participants
- Further develop and explore our environmental and educational work, including vital links between forestry and boatbuilding
We are very grateful for this opportunity, which has helped us at just the right time.
We look forward to building on everything achieved so far, welcoming more people than ever to be part of Britannia’s story and moving forward with more momentum than ever – back towards the sea!
