Britannia needs your help, now more than ever. On September 24, 2023, we celebrated Britannia’s relaunch in Exeter Heritage Harbour after a decade out of the water – a major milestone in our journey – but our work is far from over.
Why We Need Your Help
Did you know that, on average, our restoration efforts cost £10,000 per month? Fundraising this year through our regular avenues has been difficult and as things stand, our funds are currently set to run out in October. This means that without additional support, we will no longer be able to continue the restoration, pay our young boatbuilding trainees, or retain our skilled staff.
We are at a critical juncture. Simply put, without additional funding, the entire project and the future of Britannia is currently at risk.
Britannia is so close to completion. We have the materials ready to re-rig the ship and prepare her for sea trials, but we still need to cover many expenses, particularly the wages of our skilled boatbuilders and their young trainees, which are currently our biggest expense.

Why Support Britannia?
Britannia is more than a vessel; she’s a living part of maritime history and an increasingly vital educational resource for the next generation of boatbuilders and sailors. Your support ensures her preservation for future generations and will eventually help her to become financially self-supporting, once she is sailing again.
We don’t like to ask much, but at this pivotal moment in Britannia’s rich history, we need the help of our loyal supports to keep the project on track.
Thank you for your generosity and commitment. Together, we will ensure that Britannia sails again.
